India.  Affordable Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy chambers for
Diabetic Wound Healing centers,  Foot Care centers, Podiatry clinics

Monoplace Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Chamber,
Multiplace Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Chamber.

HBOT has been called  “the surgeon’s friend’ as it improves outcomes and
can attenuate complications.  While hyperbaric oxygen therapy is certainly
no substitute for sound surgical practice, even, good surgical technique
cannot compensate for the physiological deficiencies of a
hypoxic, hypovascular environment.

Diabetic foot wounds are one of the major complications of
diabetes and an excellent example of the type of complicated
wound which can be treated with hyperbaric oxygen.

Successful care of problem wounds requires an integrated
team approach using surgery, antibiotics, physical therapy
together with adjunct hyperbaric oxygen therapy when appropriate.

In many of the cases, wounds can result in limb amputation if not treated with the use of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy as an adjunct to standard care. With addition of
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatment regime, the wound can be helped
to heal and limb amputation may be avoided.
Thus saving legs & even lives

We installed a Monoplace Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Chamber, Chennai, India
Press Conference held by NRA Advances Wound Care (P) Ltd. on 09-07-2013

It may sound far-fetched, but that's exactly what a group of doctors are looking to do. Working with the principle that oxygen at increased pressure inside a chamber heals wounds faster, a wound-centric unit called 'Hycare for Wounds' offers Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment (HBOT). “The patient is made to breathe 100 pc oxygen, instead of 20 pc that he breathes in a normal circumstance, at an increased pressure inside a chamber. The wound gets more oxygen supply and heals faster,” said
Dr Rajesh Kesavan, a Podriatic surgeon, addressing a press meet on Saturday. (09-072013)
Wounds are common, but the healing process varies from person to person, depending on the person's health. There are some acute cases like diabetic wounds that need extra attention and care to heal because the patient’s body has decreased ability to heal.
Dr V B Narayanamurthy, plastic surgeon, explained how this was a real boon for diabetics, “For a person suffering from diabetes, wounds in their feet are more common and it takes a long time to heal. This is where HBOT helps in healing long standing wounds faster,” he said.
There are various conditions that can be treated with the use of HBOT. The dosage, duration and the type of HBOT treatment depends on the patient’s condition that will be thoroughly evaluated before taking him/her into HBOT chamber.
The procedure can treat wounds like crushed hand or burn injuries at an average cost of `2000 to 3000 per session. Hycare also has four more specialty clinics in the pipeline: The Nerve Regeneration Clinic, Chronic Ulcer Clinic, Foot and Ankle Reconstruction Surgery Clinic and Charcot Foot Clinic.

Healing wounds Under Pressure
Oxygen used under pressure or Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO2can assist wound healing.

HBO2 is considered to be used successfully in hypoxic or ischaemic wounds
such as diabetic wounds, venous stasis ulcers, failing grafts and flaps,
necrotising soft tissue  infections and refractory osteomyelitis.

In wound healing, hypoxia is an insufficient supply of oxygen which prevents
normal healing processes. HBO2 provides the oxygen needed
to stimulate and support wound healing.

HBO2 is able to combat clinical infection such as gas gangrene by acting directly
on anaerobic bacteria, enhancing leukocyte and macrophage activity and
potentiating the effects of antibiotics.

Diabetic foot ulcers and non-healing diabetic wounds India is home to the second highest number of people living with diabetes in the world, after China. Today there are over 45 million people grappling with the disease, and the numbers show no signs of reducing.

Amongst other health hazards, diabetes often leads to peripheral vascular disease, involving both the macro and micro circulation. Statistics reveal that 15% of all those living with the disease will develop foot problems related to diabetes, and may suffer from various deformities of the toes and feet, commonly called 'diabetic foot conditions'. These can develop from a combination of causes including neuropathy (nerve damage) and/or poor blood supply to the foot, which creates areas of raised pressures in the soles of the feet, where ulcers develop. These ulcers act as portals for the entry for bacteria leading to serious infections, which in the already immune compromised patients can result in amputations or even death.

Diabetic Neuropathy can cause insensitivity or a loss of ability to feel pain, heat, and cold. This makes matters worse for those suffering from neuropathy as they can develop minor cuts, scrapes, blisters, or pressure sores that they may not even be aware of. If left untreated, these minor injuries can lead to serious limb and life threatening infections. Extensive epidemiological surveys have indicated that between 40% and 70% of all lower extremity amputations are related to diabetes. This means that every 30 seconds a lower limb is lost to diabetes. In India, an estimated 50,000 amputations occur per year due to diabetes related foot problems. A vast majority (85%) of these diabetes-related amputations are preceded by foot ulcers.
